Baseball’s Liberty League Championship Run Ends Against Union

TROY, NY- the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's baseball team was eliminated from the Liberty League Baseball Championship today with a 11-3 defeat against Union at Karl Steffen Field.

The Garnet Chargers utilized a seven-run second inning to take an early lead and never looked back as they moved on to a Saturday afternoon meeting with Rochester.

A two-run homer by Joey Saia and a pair of runs from Union errors accounted for the RPI scoring on the day.Aidan Hicks went 2-for-4 with a team-leading two runs.

Matt Chotiner reached three times, as posted two hits and drew a walk. Jon Primerano, Ayush Krishnappa, and Stephen Koval were in the hit columns as well for the Engineers. Charlie Lapp tallied two walks as well.

Union infielder Liam McIllroy finished 3-for-6 with five RBI and two runs scored.McIllroy was responsible for two of the four home runs recorded by the Garnet Chargers.
