Women's Basketball Has No Trouble at Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team used a hot shooting start and strong defense to tally a 71-42 win at Liberty League rival Bard today.

The Engineers began the game on a 34-5 sprint courtesy of 13 made field goals on their first 24 attempts. The early RPI lead was also aided by a slow start from the Bard offense, as the hosts were held to just two made field goals in their first 21 shots.

Siena Smith and Callie Flynn netted 15 and 10 points, respectively, with the pair combining to shoot 11-of-15 from the floor.

Simran Randhawa logged six points, Amanda Gallagher and Emilia Rojik each recorded five points, and Tyler Hormazabal, Ava Gallup, and Sydney Blaney scored four points apiece.

Julia Rowe had seven rebounds, two steals, and two assists, while Gallup and Jessica Sterbens grabbed four boards each. Smith, Gallagher, Rojik, Brooke Boyle, and Calissa Tyrrell all had three rebounds as well. Hormazabal and Ava Letizia also paced the RPI offense with three assists apiece.

The Engineers will return home for a pair of league games next weekend, beginning with a 5:30pm matchup against Ithaca on Friday in ECAV Arena.
