TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's hockey team was topped by No. 9 Boston College, 5–1, tonight in Houston Field House.
Boston College opened the scoring midway through the first, but RPI quickly answered when
Tyler Wallace buried a power-play goal at 15:05, wiring a shot through traffic off assists from
Matthew Buckley and
Luciano Wilson.
The Engineers carried momentum into the intermission and nearly took the lead early in the second period as Kaz Sobieski and
Lucas Lemieux each tested BC goaltender Louka Cloutier from close range. However, the Eagles capitalized on turnovers and extended possessions to score four times in the middle frame.
In goal,
Bruno Bruveris made 21 saves through the first two periods, highlighted by a series of stops on a Boston College power play and a breakaway denial late in the first.
Carson Dorfman entered for the third and turned aside all 15 shots he faced to close the game.
Wallace led the offense with his first goal of the season, while Buckley and Wilson each picked up assists for their first points of the year. Klassek paced the blue line with three blocked shots, while Klassek and Sobieski got in the way of two attempts each.
The Engineers will look ahead to a 4:00 pm tilt against Providence tomorrow afternoon in Houston Field House.
