Women's Basketball Comebacks to Conquer St. John Fisher

 PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team overcame a a 15-point first-half deficit to defeat St. John Fisher 63–53 this afternoon in the final day of play at the Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout.

Guard Sophie Costello authored the closing surge with 10 of her team-high 16 points in the final period, while Brooke Boyle (14 points) provided efficient punch offensively and Tyler Hormazabal secured a game-high seven steals.

Trailing 29–14 midway through the second quarter, RPI scored the final seven points of the half to trim the margin to 29–21 at the break. Costello would take over for RPI in the fourth, as she splashed a left-wing three and a jumper to set up the stretch run before Boyle's fast-break finish off a steal Costello tied it 51–51 with 3:08 to play. 

Blaney drilled a go-ahead three with two minutes to play, and Hormazabal followed with another long ball on the following possession to seal the commanding comeback.

Costello finished 6-for-14 (2-for-5 3PT) with two steals and Boyle went 6-for-8 with five boards and two steals. Hormazabal posted 11 points, five rebounds, in addition to her seven steals. Blaney added nine points on 4-of-6 shooting.

 RPI shot 66.7% in the fourth (8-for-12) and 87.5% at the line, turned 18 total steals into 17 points off turnovers, and outscored the Cardinals' bench 29–8.

RPI next travels to UAlbany for an exhibition on Wednesday afternoon.
