TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team leaned on defense, rebounding, and depth to dispatch SUNY Cobleskill, 66–42, tonight at ECAV Arena.
RPI held the Tigers to 27.5% shooting (14-of-51) and 3-for-21 from three while winning the glass 49–31 and piling up 24 second-chance points and 34 in the paint.
PJ Scalisi paced the Engineers with 14 points,
Dylan Matchett added 11 points with a team-high eight rebounds and three steals, and
Andrew Deppe posted a line of 10 points, seven boards, and six assists.
Pat White controlled the lane with nine rebounds and seven points,
Billy Feeks chipped in seven points and six boards, and the bench contributed 17 points as RPI used sustained scoring bursts on either side of halftime to build a comfortable margin.
The Engineers sprinted out to an immediate double digit lead after scoring the first 11 points of the game. RPI would build the lead thanks to a 29-15 run to start the second half.
RPI next travels to Middlebury for a tough non-conference meeting on Monday night.
