Engineers Caught Down the Stretch by Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's basketball team was edged 60–56 by Plattsburgh State this afternoon.

Guard Molly Libby powered the RPI offense with 20 points, including five three pointers. Callie Flynn stuffed the defensive column with nine boards and five blocks.

The Engineers jumped out to an early lead and extended the margin in the second quarter with a wave of perimeter makes. Sophie Costello canned back-to-back threes and Siena Smith drilled another from the right wing to give RPI a double digit halftime lead.

RPI maintained its 10 point advantage early into the final quarter, however the Cardinals scored 21 of the final 28 points to earn the win.

The Engineers next welcome Keene State to ECAV Arena for the squads home opener on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
