Engineers Upset #5 Colgate

TROY, NY- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team came back to defeat #5 Colgate 3-2 in overtime today in Houston Field House.

Natalie Tulchinsky used a Sophie Helgeson assist to net the game-winning goal for RPI halfway through OT.

The Engineers had trailed 2-1 in the early stages of the third, but Ellie Kaiser scored with 5:30 left in regulation to give the Engineers a chance in the extra session.

Colgate had established a 1-0 lead in the middle of the first and held that advantage until Meg Hildner got RPI going at 14:54 in the second.

After the early blemish, Reese Keating stopped 21 of the final 22 Colgate attempts to help RPI to earn two ECAC points.

Tulchinsky added an assist to the scoresheet to finish the night with two points. Morgann Skoda, Sophia Jones, Kyley Toye also joined Tulchinsky and Helgeson in the assist column. Tulchinsky topped the team with three blocked shots as well.

The Engineers hit the road for the final weekend of the regular season, starting with a 6:00 pm matchup at Quinnipiac on Friday.
