TROY, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse defeated Muhlenberg College 13-7 this afternoon in ECAV Stadium.
RPI enjoyed multi-point efforts from five different Engineers, with Tyler Ruffini's two goals and three assists giving him a game-high five points.
Erik Ojert logged four points on two goals and two assists, while Easton Morse tallied two scores and a helper for a three-point day.
Zach Swanson netted two goals and Gavin Cousineau registered one goals and one assist in the victory. Cooper Roman, JD Townsend, Robby McDonald, and Ty Stanek had one tally apiece as well.
The Engineers scored five of the first six goals to start the afternoon, however Muhlenberg netted three consecutive goals bridging the first and second half to narrow the RPI advantage to 5-4 early in the second half. RPI would rally for six of the next seven scores from that point on to manufacture a big lead in the fourth quarter.
Joseph Perry made a season-high 14 saves to earn the win in net for the Engineers. He also had six ground balls and caused a turnover.
Ty Stanek and Nick Biava highlighted the defensive effort with two caused turnovers each. Ojert, Morse, Owen Stesney, and Ryan Sweet matched Perry with one caused turnover.
The Engineers will begin preparations for Wednesday's 5:00 pm home meeting against #9 nationally-ranked Middlebury.
