Engineers Win Final Two Games of Florida Trip

WINTER, FL - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) capped its spring trip with two victories in the final day of action at The Spring Games.

The Engineers shut out Marian University 3-0 before taking down Aurora University 6-1 win to finish the tournament with four straight victories.

RPI received strong pitching efforts on the day, with Maggie Kreis striking out five while allowing only four hits in 7.0-inning win in game one.

Ava Markert went the distance in the second game of the night, where she allowed one earned run and punched out eight to log her fourth win of the week.

Lauren Cosselman went 2-for-3 in the opener. Cosselman was one of three Engineers to provide an RBI, as Caroline Peel and Olivia Termi also drove in a run each. Sarah Decker scored twice and Termi tallied one run as well.

Sydney Speanburg reached base all four times in game two. Speanburg was 3-for-3 with a walk, one run, and one RBI. Termi posted a three-hit effort, scored twice, and knocked home two RBI, additionally.

Ryleigh Falvey finished 2-for-3 with a run and Addison Shaffer had two RBI in the finale.

With a 7-3 record after their 10 spring games, the Engineers will head home to prepare for their home opener against Williams on Saturday afternoon.
