Women's Lacrosse Hangs On For Key League Win at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's lacrosse team held on to a narrow 11-10 Liberty League win at Vassar today.

Audrey Silverman topped all players with three goals to help RPI claim the critical conference win. Silverman added an assist to finish with four points.

Ella Graff, Camille Stackhouse, Emily Speck, and Lisa Boehmer accounted for the rest of the RPI scoring, as the four Engineers produced two goals apiece.

RPI sprinted out to a big first half advantage before withstanding a late push by the host Brewers.

Silverman, Stackhouse, and Speck scored two times each and Graff added one goal to give the Engineers a 7-3 lead after the first half.

Boehmer, Graff, Silverman, and Graff all manufactured a tally in the third and Boehmer would open the fourth with another to move the score to 11-6.

Vassar roared back with four straight goals to cut the margin to one with three minutes remaining. The Brewers would have two chances with the ball after that, however one possession ended in a turnover and the last opportunity was a shot that missed wide as the final buzzer sounded.

Jenny Canfield made 10 saves in net for the Engineers. Canfield stopped six shots in the first half to allow RPI to build its early cushion.

Sofia Cedrone created two turnovers and collected a game-high four ground balls. Speck and Ava Gilardone also provided two caused turnovers and one ground ball to the defensive effort.

The Engineers close the regular season with a 3:00 pm meeting at Clarkson next Saturday afternoon.
