Six-Run First Inning Helps RPI Secure 10-6 Triumph at Amherst

AMHERST, Mass.- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team won its eighth straight game with a 10-6 victory at Amherst. The Engineers homered twice in a six-run first inning to take the early momentum in the non-conference triumph.

After the first three Engineers reached base in the top of the first, Ayush Krishnappa smashed a grand slam out to left field to put RPI up 4-0. Julian Scarpa would follow with a two-run shot as well later in the frame.

Following a run-scoring single by Kameron Levesque in the second, Krishnappa logged his fifth RBI of the day with a base hit in the fourth. Matt Chotiner plated two runs with a single up the middle in the eighth to cap the RPI scoring.

Jon Primerano was 3-for-4 with three runs in the victory. Ian Oehlschlaeger also crossed home three times, while Aidan Hicks and Michael Lebenson scored once each as well.

Looking ahead, the Engineers return to Liberty League play with three games against Skidmore.  The series is slated to begin with one game on Friday afternoon in Saratoga Springs.
