Big First Half Gives RPI 12-8 Win at Vassar

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY- The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's lacrosse team secured a 12-8 Liberty League victory at Vassar this afternoon.

Easton Morse scored four times, while Sean Smith and Tyler a Ruffini produced two tallies each. Cooper Manzi, JD Townsend, Drew Teff, and Ryan Sweet aided the offense with one goal apiece as well.

Morse deposited all four of his strikes in a first half that saw the #5 nationally-ranked Engineers own nine of the 11 goals scored.

After leading by seven at halftime, the Engineers netted three of the first four scores of the third quarter to establish a 12-3 advantage, their largest lead of the game.

In addition to their scoring efforts, Morse, Smith, Ruffini, and Teff all contributed one assist each. Erik Ojert also assisted on a goal, while Zach Swanson and Gavin Cousineau logged two helpers apiece.

Angelo Venuto was 16-of-19 in the faceoff circle and collected a game-high 12 ground balls. Joseph Perry made 11 saves in his 45 minutes in net for the Engineers.

RPI will head back home for a 1:00 pm meeting against Clarkson on Saturday in ECAV Stadium.
