RPI Athletics Earns Best-Ever Finish in Learfield Director's Cup Final Standings

TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) athletics department earned its best finish ever in the Learfield Director's Cup, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA). The Engineers programs collectively listed 30th overall in the final 2024–25 Division III standings, marking RPI's highest ranking in the 28 years that NACDA has organized the program.

"Achieving our highest-ever finish in the Division III Learfield Directors' Cup is a proud moment for us," shared Associate VP and Director of Athletics, Dr. Kristie Bowers. "In Division III, success is about more than competition—it's about the complete student-athlete experience. This achievement is a testament to the relentless dedication, talent, and heart of our student-athletes, coaches, and support staff, alongside the unwavering support from our alumni and campus community. We're proud of the tremendous success we have had this past year—and even more excited for what's ahead."

RPI accumulated 562.00 points across the fall, winter, and spring seasons, earning the top spot among Liberty League institutions. The Engineers were buoyed by a strong spring season that resulted in NCAA championship appearances for baseball, softball, men's lacrosse, men's tennis, and men's track & field. RPI ranked 19th among DIII schools based on spring-season point totals.

The Learfield Directors' Cup ranks collegiate athletic programs based on their finish in NCAA Championships across up to 18 sports (nine men's and nine women's). Points are awarded based on performance in national tournament play, with standings updated after each athletic season.
