TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team controlled the final 20 minutes to defeat Skidmore, 76–56, this afternoon in ECAV Arena.
Five Engineers scored finished in double-figures as RPI shot 47.3% from the field, finished +10 on the glass (33–23 defensive boards listed) and turned 11 steals into 14 points off turnovers.
Billy Feeks and PJ Scalisi shared team-high honors with 13 points apiece, with Scalisi adding four rebounds and two steals. Andrew Deppe posted 11 points, six boards and four assists and Dylan Matchett delivered a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double to go with five assists and two steals. Kellen Driscoll chipped in 10 points and a team-best five assists as the Engineers produced 28 points in the paint, 18 fast-break points, and 12 second-chance points.
RPI led 36–31 at halftime and pulled away with a 40–25 second half rally. The Engineers pocketing 10 of the first 12 points out of the break and held the Thoroughbreds to just two made field goals in the first 13 minutes of the second half to establish an advantage that peaked at 24 late in the final frame.
The Engineers will next travel to Clarkson for a 7:00 pm Liberty League date on Friday.
