ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team defeated RIT, 79–62, tonight in Clark Gymnasium.
After falling behind 25–13 midway through the first half, RPI flipped the game with a 27–7 surge fueled by
Billy Feeks' and
Yechiel Stewart's long balls, a
PJ Scalisi three-point play, and an
Andrew Deppe late jumper to take a 40–35 lead at the break.
The Engineers broke it open after halftime as
Kellen Driscoll scored off the opening set and Deppe drilled a three to build a 10-point cushion. Scalisi then buried four threes in a six-minute span, paired with a Stewart triple, to push the margin beyond 20.
Deppe delivered a game-high 21 points (9-for-14) with six rebounds and three steals. Scalisi added 19 points with four threes and four assists, and Feeks (12 points) and Driscoll (8 points, five rebounds, four assists) rounded out a balanced effort.
The Engineers next face Liberty League-leading Vassar on Friday in Poughkeepsie.
