RPI Earns a Point at League-Leading St. Lawrence

CANTON, N.Y. — The RPI men's soccer team battled unbeaten St. Lawrence to a scoreless draw in Liberty League action this afternoon. Noah Churchill recorded three saves for the Engineers, who moved to 6-5-4 overall and 3-1-3 in conference play.

St. Lawrence controlled much of the opening half, producing eight shots, but the RPI defense kept the Saints off the scoreboard. Churchill made saves on Sammy Bothwell and Kenneth Mejia Lopez, while Sam Shmukler generated the Engineers' lone first-half shot on goal.

The Engineers turned the pressure around after halftime, outshooting St. Lawrence 9-4 over the final 45 minutes. Justin Woodbine forced an early save before Harrison Brownlow tested goalkeeper Zach Amato twice in quick succession. Brownlow continued to threaten throughout the half, putting two additional attempts on target as RPI searched for the breakthrough.

RPI generated several more opportunities down the stretch. Shmukler forced saves in the 82nd and 86th minutes before Brownlow put one final shot on goal in the closing moments, but Amato preserved the scoreless result.

Brownlow led the Engineers with five shots, including four on goal, while Shmukler put all three of his attempts on target. Woodbine added RPI's other shot on goal. The Engineers finished with 10 shots, eight on target, while St. Lawrence totaled 12 shots but put only three on frame. Churchill played all 90 minutes to earn the shutout.
