Fisher Scores as RPI Falls at #12 Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y. – Kaylynn Fisher scored in the third period and Sadie Bellissimo turned aside 44 shots, but the RPI women's hockey team fell to No. 12 Colgate, 5-1, this afternoon in Hamilton.

Colgate opened the scoring early in the first period when Chloe Goofers found the back of the net before Emma Pais added a power-play tally later in the frame. Ava Wood followed with another goal in the closing minutes to give the hosts a 3-0 advantage entering the first intermission. Bellissimo made 17 saves during the opening 20 minutes to keep the Engineers within reach.

RPI settled in defensively during a scoreless second period. Bellissimo stopped all 12 shots she faced, while the Engineers generated opportunities from Mia Montanari, Alexis Brunet, Gracyn Mackay, and Aylah Cioffi. RPI also killed off a late Colgate power play as the contest remained 3-0 heading into the third.

Pais scored her second goal of the game early in the third to extend the Colgate advantage before the Engineers broke through midway through the period. Fisher finished a setup from Georgia Bailey to make it 4-1, marking Fisher's second goal of the season.

Bellissimo continued to turn away Colgate chances throughout the final period before Madeline Palumbo added a goal in the closing seconds to account for the final margin. Bellissimo finished with 44 saves, including 17 in the first period and 15 in the third.
