POTSDAM, N.Y. – The RPI men's hockey team generated 31 shots on goal, including 18 in the second period, but Clarkson pulled away in the third to earn a 4-0 victory over the Engineers tonight.
Clarkson opened the scoring on the power play midway through the first period when Remi Gelinas found the back of the net. RPI responded with a power-play opportunity of its own shortly afterward and put six shots on goal in the opening frame, but the Engineers entered the first intermission trailing 1-0.
RPI controlled much of the offensive pressure during a scoreless second period, outshooting Clarkson 18-6. The Engineers received a five-minute power play late in the frame following a hitting-from-behind major and generated seven shots during the extended man advantage, but Clarkson goaltender Shane Soderwall kept RPI off the scoreboard.

Nate Krawchuk continued to turn aside opportunities throughout the period before Gelinas added his second goal of the night later in the frame to account for the final margin.
The Engineers continued to generate chances down the stretch and received another power-play opportunity in the closing minutes, but were unable to break through. RPI finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play while Clarkson converted its lone man-advantage opportunity.
