Engineers Finish Split Weekend

TROY, N.Y. – Reese Keating turned aside 35 shots and the RPI women's hockey team remained within one goal through more than 50 minutes, but St. Lawrence pulled away in the third period for a 4-0 victory over the Engineers this afternoon.

St. Lawrence opened the scoring early in the first period when Sonia Mehta finished a setup from Cheyenne Degeer and Brooke Mulvihill. Keating kept the Engineers within one for the remainder of the frame, stopping 13 shots overall, while RPI generated a pair of opportunities on its first power play through Barbora Cerna-Proskova and Kaylynn Fisher.

RPI increased its offensive pressure during a scoreless second period. Kendal Davidson put three shots on goal in the frame, while Kami O'Brien, Georgia Bailey, and Mia Montanari also tested the St. Lawrence netminder. Keating stopped all 11 shots she faced, including three during a St. Lawrence power play, to keep the deficit at 1-0 entering the third.

The Engineers came close to finding the equalizer early in the third when Bailey rang an attempt off the pipe. St. Lawrence maintained the one-goal margin until Rylan Haslam scored on the power play midway through the period, before Kendall Doiron added another tally less than two minutes later to extend the advantage to 3-0.

Haslam added her second goal of the game in the closing seconds to account for the final margin. Keating finished with 35 saves, including 13 in the first period and 11 apiece in the second and third.
