RPI Holds Off Ithaca for 82-70 Win in Home Finale

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team closed out its regular-season home slate with an 82–70 Liberty League victory over Ithaca this afternoon at ECAV Arena.

PJ Scalisi led all Engineers with a team-high 19 points on 6-of-8 shooting while adding eight rebounds and four assists, and Yechiel Stewart followed with 18 points.

Andrew Deppe continued his strong all-around play with 16 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Blake Smith and Kellen Driscoll chipped in seven apiece as RPI shot 64.6 percent from the field and poured in 56 points in the paint.

The contest featured five ties and seven lead changes in the opening half, with RPI steadily building momentum through interior scoring and defensive pressure.

After trailing briefly, the Engineers closed the first period on a strong stretch capped by Stewart's late layup and free throws to take a 40–38 edge into the break.

RPI seized control early in the second half, opening with a run sparked by Andrew Deppe's finishes inside and Scalisi's transition layup and three-pointer, pushing the margin to double figures.

Ithaca trimmed the deficit behind perimeter shooting, but each push was met by answers from the Engineers. Stewart and Scalisi converting in the lane, Billy Feeks adding fast-break points, and Nate Tawiah-Boateng punctuating the night with a steal-and-dunk.

The Engineers forced 16 turnovers and totaled 67 bench points.

RPI next travels to St. Lawrence for a 7:30 pm meeting on Friday night.
