Men's Basketball Defeats Clarkson for Seventh Straight Win

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team put together a balanced offensive effort and closed strong down the stretch to secure a 75–66 Liberty League victory at Clarkson's Alumni Gymnasium this afternoon.

Billy Feeks led the Engineers with a team-high 17 points, going 7-for-8 at the free-throw line and knocking down two threes, while Yechiel Stewart followed with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including three triples.

Andrew Deppe added 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and Kellen Driscoll chipped in 13 points with four rebounds as RPI shot 54.3 percent from the field and 45.5 percent from beyond the arc.

After Clarkson opened with an early three, RPI settled in quickly and seized control midway through the first half. Stewart sparked the offense with a three and a fast-break sequence that pushed the Engineers in front, and RPI used crisp ball movement to build an 11-point cushion late in the period behind triples from PJ Scalisi, Deppe, Feeks, and Driscoll.

Clarkson trimmed the deficit with late perimeter shooting, but Feeks' pair of free throws in the final 31 seconds sent RPI into the locker room ahead 38–31.

The Engineers maintained control after halftime, answering every Clarkson run with timely baskets. Stewart buried a second-half three early, Driscoll converted at the line, and Deppe finished through contact in the paint to keep the margin near double figures.

Clarkson pulled even late at 66–66 with 2:25 remaining, but RPI responded immediately, as Deppe scored on a strong drive and completed the three-point play, Stewart added a transition layup, and Feeks iced the game by going 5-for-5 at the free-throw line in the final 30 seconds.

The Engineers forced 15 turnovers and scored 30 points in the paint to wrap the regular season with their seventh consecutive victory.

RPI will enjoy a first round bye in the Liberty League postseason before hosting either Ithaca or St. Lawrence on Friday evening in ECAV Arena.
