Engineers Overcomes Early Deficit to Win 73-68 Versus Hobart

TROY, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's basketball team erased a nine-point halftime deficit with a dominant second-half surge to defeat Hobart, 73–68, in Liberty League action tonight in ECAV Arena.

Andrew Deppe led all scorers with 19 points, knocking down four three-pointers while adding 10 rebounds, four assists, and two blocks, and Billy Feeks followed with 17 points on 6-of-12 shooting, including three triples, as the Engineers shot 60.7 percent after halftime and went 8-for-10 from beyond the arc in the second half.

Yechiel Stewart chipped in 15 points with three steals, while PJ Scalisi added eight points and sealed the outcome at the free-throw line in the closing seconds.

Hobart carried a 35–26 lead into the break after limiting RPI to 24.1 percent shooting in the opening half, but the Engineers flipped the game early in the second period with a decisive run fueled by perimeter shooting and transition play.

Deppe buried a pair of threes to spark the rally, Feeks followed with consecutive baskets to trim the margin to one, and RPI eventually surged ahead midway through the half behind another Deppe triple.

The teams traded leads down the stretch, but Deppe's three with just over two minutes remaining put RPI back in front for good, and Feeks' fast-break layup at 1:09 extended the cushion.

As a team, RPI finished at 42.1 percent shooting and outscoring Hobart 47–33 in the second half.

Prior to today's contest, a moment of silence was observed in memory of Erin Therese Mansell. Erin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 21 on October 16, 2025. Erin's father, Bill Mansel '78, scored 1,036 points during his career with the Engineers men's basketball program and was inducted into the RPI Athletics Hall of Fame in 1986. In Erin's memory, many of Bill's former teammates made a gift to the men's basketball program.

Winners of seven of their last eight, the Engineers will prepare for a key showdown with Vassar tomorrow at 4:00 pm in ECAV Arena.
