ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team delivered another dominant performance on the road, sweeping Rochester by a 7-0 score in a convincing all-around effort at the Goergen Athletic Center.
The Engineers claimed all three matches to secure the doubles point. At the top position,
Nicole Ridenour and
Anushka Jaiswal earned a strong 6-4 victory, while
Victoria Sarabosing and
Kaaviya Kannan matched that scoreline with a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles. RPI completed the sweep at the third spot behind
Gauri Muliyil and
Juliette Ceas, who posted a 6-2 victory.
RPI carried that momentum into singles play, where the Engineers claimed all six matches to complete the shutout. Ridenour led the lineup at No. 1 singles with a decisive 6-1, 6-2 victory, while Muliyil followed at No. 2 with a strong 7-5, 6-2 win. At the third position, Sarabosing controlled her match from start to finish in a 6-2, 6-3 victory, and Kannan added another commanding performance at No. 4 with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
The Engineers continued their sweep in the bottom half of the lineup, where Ceas battled through a three-set match at No. 5, rebounding after dropping the opening set to secure the win in a deciding super tiebreak.
Neha Saraswatula closed out the match at No. 6 with a straight-set victory, completing the clean sweep for RPI.
The Engineers will head home for their next two matches, beginning with a meeting with Skidmore on Saturday afternoon on Sharpe Courts.
