ITHACA, N.Y. – The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's tennis team did not drop a set today, ans the Engineers swept Ithaca by a 7-0 score in Liberty League action.
The Engineers pocketed all three doubles contests to secure the opening point. At the top position,
Nicole Ridenour and
Anushka Jaiswal earned a convincing 6-1 victory, while
Victoria Sarabosing and
Kayla Wheeler followed with a strong 6-2 win at No. 2 doubles. RPI completed the doubles sweep at the third position, where
Gauri Muliyil and
Juliette Ceas posted a dominant 6-0 victory.
Carrying that momentum into singles play, the Engineers continued their commanding effort by winning all six matches in straight sets. At the top line, Ridenour delivered a 6-3, 6-0 victory, while Muliyil turned in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles. Wheeler followed with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the third position, and Sarabosing added a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles.
Rounding out the rest of the lineup,
Neha Saraswatula earned a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles, while Ceas completed the sweep at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Winners of seven of their final eight regular season contests, RPI will take a weekend off before competing in the Liberty League Championships beginning May 1 in Ithaca.
