TROY, N.Y. — The RPI women's soccer team remained unbeaten on the 2026 season this afternoon, battling Plattsburgh State to a scoreless draw at ECAV Stadium.
RPI produced several opportunities during the opening stages, beginning with attempts from
Sophia Byron,
Keleigh Nihart, and
Ava Davey inside the first 17 minutes. Plattsburgh generated its best early chance in the 19th minute when Lia Parker put a shot on target, but Gaboury made the save to keep the contest scoreless.
The Engineers continued to control the shot count as the first half progressed.
Maddy Kaminski added an attempt midway through the period before
Annabelle Bachhuber recorded RPI's first shot on goal in the 34th minute, forcing Plattsburgh goalkeeper Desiree DuBois into a save.
Isabelle Gelzhiser also generated an opportunity in the final minute of the half as the teams entered the break tied 0-0. RPI held a 7-2 advantage in shots through the opening 45 minutes.
Pihu took over in goal for the Engineers to begin the second half, while RPI continued searching for the opening score.
Elsa Ryan generated the first RPI attempt of the period before the Engineers earned corner kicks in the 65th and 75th minutes. Plattsburgh countered with increased pressure of its own, including a shot on goal from Faith Zylinksy in the 79th minute that Pihu turned aside.
RPI created several of the game's best late opportunities. Kaminski forced a save in the 82nd minute before Ryan put another effort on target shortly afterward. Ryan continued to apply pressure with four shots over the final seven minutes, but DuBois and the Plattsburgh defense kept the Engineers off the scoreboard through the final whistle.
Ryan paced the RPI attack with a game-high six shots, while Kaminski recorded two attempts and one on goal. Bachhuber accounted for the Engineers' other shot on target, while Davey, Nihart, Byron, and Gelzhiser each added an attempt. RPI finished with a 13-5 advantage in total shots and a 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
Gaboury made one save during a scoreless opening half before Pihu stopped the lone shot she faced over the final 45 minutes. The tandem combined for RPI's third shutout of the season, helping the Engineers remain unbeaten at 4-0-3 following four consecutive victories entering the contest.
