TROY, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team rallied late to earn a 1-1 draw against Clark University this afternoon at ECAV Stadium. The Engineers erased a second-half deficit with an equalizer in the closing nine minutes and moved to 1-0-1 through their first two matches of the 2026 season.
RPI generated the better of the early opportunities, with
Jax Jameson putting a shot on goal just over two minutes into the contest before
Harrison Brownlow forced another save midway through the opening half.
Diego Peredo came inches from breaking the deadlock in the 32nd minute when his attempt struck the crossbar, as the Engineers carried much of the attacking pressure despite entering halftime scoreless.
The Engineers finished the opening 45 minutes with a 5-3 advantage in shots and generated five corner kicks while holding Clark to just one.
Matt Schlotterbeck produced the final RPI opportunity of the half with a shot in the 41st minute, but neither side was able to find the opening goal before the break.
The Engineers continued to create chances early in the second half, with
Christopher McKinney, Jameson and Brownlow all recording attempts during the opening 10 minutes. Brownlow's effort forced another save from Clark goalkeeper Jaime Pedraza, who helped keep the match scoreless.
Clark eventually broke through in the 68th minute when Marc Kim scored to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage. RPI continued to push forward following the goal, with
Owen Filler generating an attempt before the Engineers found the equalizer courtesy of an own goal in the 82nd minute.
Neither side was able to produce the deciding score over the closing minutes as the Engineers secured their first draw of the season. RPI finished with a 9-6 advantage in total shots and a 5-1 edge in corner kicks, while three of the Engineers' attempts were on target.
