Cody Vincent '12 is in his second stint as an assistant coach for the Engineers after a four-year playing career in Troy. He played infield for RPI from 2009-2012 before becoming Infield Coach and First Base Coach for RPI from 2013-2015. In 2022, he returned to the coaching staff in the same capacities. He also helps with base running instruction, opponent scouting and recruiting.
During Vincent's first coaching stint, the Engineers went 82-44 with two Liberty League Tournament titles and five NCAA Tournament victories. The 2015 team won both the Liberty League's regular and postseason crowns before winning three NCAA tournament games to reach the New York Regional Final. The team had three All-Americans, and the coaching staff of Karl Steffen, Keith Glasser, and Vincent was chosen as the Liberty League's Coaching Staff of the Year.
Since Vincent's return to the Engineers staff, the team has produced a 39-33 record in two seasons. Overall, RPI is 121-77 during Vincent's five seasons as an assistant coach under three separate head coaches.
Prior to coaching, Vincent enjoyed a four-year playing career from 2009-2012 under Hall of Fame Head Coach Karl Steffen. During this time, the team had a 108-64 record with three NCAA tournament wins and two Liberty League regular season titles. A utility infielder, Vincent started 79 games during his Engineer career, accumulating totals of 55 hits, 29 walks, 17 HBP, 45 runs scored, 21 RBI, 20 stolen bases, and 11 sacrifice bunts. He graduated from RPI's Lally School of Management in 2012 with a dual major in Business Management and Communications.
In between his two stints as an assistant coach at RPI, Vincent spent six seasons as a 14u & 15u travel baseball coach for the Bethlehem Eagles in Delmar, NY. During this time, his teams amassed a 64-60-1 overall record & won multiple tournaments including the ENYTB Super 8 at Joe Bruno Stadium and the NEAAU Summer Classic in Providence, RI. Several players from these teams have gone on to play college baseball at the Division I, II, III and Junior College levels.
Cody resides in Guilderland, New York with his partner, Kayla Maio, and their two dogs, Harper and Eli. Away from the baseball field, he works in healthcare data analytics and enjoys golf, jogging, video games, and following professional sports.
Coach Vincent comes from an athletic family. His mother, Jean Kerr, ran XC and track for Princeton University before winning the 1980 Baltimore Marathon. His father, Richard Vincent, is a distance running coach, athlete, and race organizer. Cody's step father, Stewart Dutfield, is an accomplished ultramarathon runner. Cody's younger brother, Clayton Dutfield, is an infielder on the MCLA baseball team.
