Blaise Zambrano

Blaise Zambrano was named the defensive coordinator at Rensselaer in 2008. 

Now the quarterbacks coach, he has also coached the linebackers for a season and worked with the defensive backs.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., originally came to RPI in 2006, spending a year in Troy before being hired at Northeastern University. He returned to the Engineers last year and helped the team rank first in the Liberty League in scoring defense (16.3 points per game) and rushing defense (118.8 yards per game), second in pass defense efficiency (103.4) and third in total defense (313.7 yards per game).

Zambrano joined the college ranks in 2006 after spending the previous 12 seasons as the defensive coordinator for Timberlane High School in Plaistow, N.H. Among his duties were designing and implementing weekly game plans, on-field instruction, breaking down films, and strength & conditioning.

The Baldwin-Wallace College product also coached a variety of other sports at Timberlane and has experience as a teacher.
