Bob Schoonmaker, who will coach the tight ends as well as assist with the special teams, is in his third season with the Engineers.
Schoonmaker came to Troy after spending eight years as the head coach at Granville Central School, where he led the team to the 1995 Division Championship – its first since 1981 – and was named Coach of the Year by the Greenwich Journal Press.

Schoonmaker started coaching in 1992 as the defensive coordinator for Whitehall Central School, where his unit was not scored upon in five consecutive games during the 1993 season.

A four-year inside linebacker and tight end under Joe King at Watervliet High School, Schoonmaker was a member of the Canoneers’ 1979 undefeated Colonial Council and Section II Class C Championship team, earning numerous honors, including All-State recognition.

Schoonmaker, who attended Hudson Valley Community College and Adirondack Community College, resides in Granville, with his wife of 18 years, Dorie, and two daughters, Rachel and Renee.
