Chris Sapp

Chris Sapp has a been a member of the Rensselaer coaching staff since 2006. He is the team's wide receivers coach.

In 2009, RPI averaged 162.3 passing yards per game, with nine touchdowns. Three players hauled in 20 or more catches and five different players recorded TD receptions.

During his first year he helped the Engineers’ passing game average 217.9 yards per game and 16 touchdowns.

The 2007 campaign saw RPI averaged 261.5 yards passing per game and ranked among the leaders in the Liberty League in scoring offense (27.5 points per game), passing offense and total offense (395.1 yards per game).  Nationally, Rensselaer was 35th in passing offense and 57th in total offense.

In 2008, RPI had six receivers who pulled in at least 10 catches, led by sophomore Pat McCarthy, who was among the national leaders in receptions per game.  The receiving corps, who saw five players catch at least one touchdown, averaged 12.7 yards per reception and 265.6 yards per game.

A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., Sapp came to Troy from Clemson University, where he served as the administrative assistant for football operations. He has also been the wide receivers coach at his alma mater, North Greenville University, a Division II school in Tigerville, S.C.

A 2005 graduate of North Greenville, Sapp was a three-year letterman and a two-time captain for the Crusaders.
