Dan Cole

After spending three seasons as the Engineers starting quarterback, Dan Cole joined Rensselaer's coaching staff in 2004.

As a player, Cole set nearly every school passing record, completing 671 of 1,202 passes for 8,902 yards and 87 touchdowns in 32 games. He averaged 277.1 yards per game while throwing only 26 interceptions. The Albany, N.Y., native also ran 333 times for 823 yards and 13 touchdowns.

As a senior, Cole threw for 3,679 yards, 40 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions in 13 games, leading the Engineers to a school-record 11 wins (11-2) and the NCAA National Semi-Finals. The Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week four times, he also ran for 276 yards and two touchdowns. He was voted the Offensive Player of the Year by the Liberty League and the ECAC and was a multiple National All-American. He went on to have a tryout with the NFL’s New England Patriots.

Cole, the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player three times during his career, graduated in 2004 with a degree in electronic media arts and communication.  He is currently a member of the Albany Conquest, an Arena Football 2 franchise located in the Capital District.
