Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Athletics

Eric Ouellette joined the Rensselaer football coaching staff in 2010. He is a former assistant at Northeastern University and student-athlete at the University of Maine.

Ouellette, who will coach RPI’s wide receivers, will also work as an associate in Rensselaer’s Office of Enrollment Management.

“We are excited to add Eric to our athletics family,” said Director of Athletics Jim Knowlton upon Ouellette being hired. “He will be an asset in the continued development of our student-athletes.”

A native of Biddeford, Maine, Ouellette spent the previous two years as an assistant coach at Northeastern, where he helped train and develop the Huskies’  tight ends, including Brian Mandeville, a 2008 National All-American and NFL Draft prospect.

In addition, Ouellette also assisted with the punt team and served as the video coordinator for a season. Among his other responsibilities were conducting positional meetings, designing and directing drills, assisting in opponent breakdowns and designing the offensive playbook. He also played an active role in the recruiting process for the Huskies.

Prior to his time at Northeastern, Ouellette served as an assistant coach at Thiel College in Pennsylvania for one season. With the Tomcats, he worked with the tight ends and running backs, while also preparing lesson plans and positional meetings. Ouellette, who also served a recruiter in the Pittsburgh area, also served as the team’s video coordinator. 

Ouellette served as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Maine, in 2006. He worked with the skill development of the team’s running backs and offensive linemen, while also handling scouting reports on opponents as well as charting offensive plays and defensive fronts.

As a student-athlete, Ouellette was a four-year member of the Black Bears, playing both tight end and offensive line. He helped lead the squad to the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship in 2002. 

Ouellette received his Bachelor of Science in political science from Maine in 2007.
