Jason Diehl

Diehl joined the Rensselaer football staff as an assistant coach in August of 2011.

A native of nearby Wynantskill, Diehl was a standout defensive tackle at Troy High School. He was the Big 10 Defensive Player of the Year in 2003, All-Area twice, a two-time All-State First Team selection and a captain for the Trojans. He then spent a year at Milford Academy, where he captained the football team.

Ranked among the nation's top 20 prep school prospects by Scout.com (No. 18) and Rivals.com (No. 18), Diehl attended Michigan State University. An offensive lineman for the Spartans, his career was derailed by injury but he remained involved with the program, working in the weight room and at the team's camps before graduating in 2010 (B.S. in sociology).
