Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Athletics

John Barber is in his first season coaching at Rensselaer.

He joins the Engineers after spending the last three seasons as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Hudson Valley Community College. As a member of the Vikings staff, Barber was responsible for the offensive game plan, weekly film breakdown, and the special teams and kickoff return, among other things.

Barber also has experience at the high school level, having served as the offensive coordinator and head junior varsity coach at Schuylerville as well as an assistant coach at Greenwich.

A former football official, he is a member of the American Football Coaches Association and he has served as a clinician at numerous camps, including Penn St. University, King College and the Frank Glazier Mega Clinic.

A native of Schuylerville, N.Y., Barber was a standout tight end at Hudson Valley.
