Jordan Baum joined RPI as the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in September of 2023.
A native of Suffern, N.Y., Baum has extensive experience both collegiately and in the private sector. She served as the strength and conditioning coach and fitness manager at Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y., for two years, creating and teaching programs for each of the student-athletes while also focusing on injury prevention.Â
She also spent time at SUNY Purchase (2015-16) as well as St. Thomas Aquinas College (2014-15), where she worked specifically with softball student-athletes. Baum's training stops also include Army West Point and with Mike Boyle Strength and Conditioning.Â
Outside of college athletics, she has been a private instructor and personal trainer in Downstate New York as well as in Syracuse.Â
A graduate of SUNY Cortland, where she played forward on the ice hockey team, Baum is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), a National Sports Performance Association USA Weightlifting coach, a certified Functional Movement Specialist, a functional strength coach, and a functional range conditioning coach.
At Rensselaer, she is responsible for providing leadership and management for the Institute's strength and conditioning program, including informing and educating the athletic department personnel and student-athletes regarding all policies and procedures that are integral to strength and conditioning. She designs programs by sport and gender, mentors and supervises strength and conditioning staff and ensures the overall program is engaging and functioning at a high level for each of RPI's 23 intercollegiate teams.
