Senior Reflection: "You never really know how much you can grow as a person and as an athlete until your four years of college come to a close. I am extremely fortunate to have experienced these last four years of my life as an RPI Engineer. When you come in as a freshman there is a learning curve that happens. “New places, new faces.” You are nervous about tomorrow because there is so much coming at you every day. Coming from junior hockey, there’s another added aspect: school. (You forget that you are a STUDENT-athlete.) But as time goes on, the guys on your team, and in your class more specifically, become your closest friends. As an RPI Hockey player, we have all lived together, gone through many ups and many downs. More importantly, we’ve grown up together. We’ve supported each other on and off the ice, through good and bad. I can specifically remember in August of 2011 talking to Schroeder and Laliberte, my roommates freshman year, about how excited we were to have four years of hockey and “college life” ahead of us. As this chapter of my life comes to a close, I will miss everything we do on a daily basis, but I am forever grateful that I was able to have it all happen at RPI The faculty member who I am lucky to have helped me and pleased to know is Mr. Bob Conway. “Bobby C” as he is known to the boys, worked tirelessly each week for us to make sure we were on the straight and narrow for our academics . Mr. Conway did everything from helping us work out our class schedules to simply asking how our day or week was going. He truly cared about us as college kids, not making it ever seem like it was his job but that he wanted to make us better people. For that, I am most fortunate to have Bobby C in my life as a mentor in my academic career." - March 2015
