    Volunteer Assistant Coach
George Leveille is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach at Rensselaer. 

A coach with numerous organizations throughout the Capital Region, Leveille worked most recently in the Empire State Games, leading the Adirondack Boys Team from 2003-04. He also served as the head coach of the Albany Capitals from 1990-01 and was a varsity assistant at Albany Academy in 1981 and again from 1996-99. 

Leveille began his coaching career in 1979, spending two years as an assistant for the varsity lacrosse team at Guilderland High School. Additionally, he was a player/coach for the Mohawk Lacrosse Club All-Stars during two different stints. 

A founder of several lacrosse development programs and tournaments in the area, Leveille currently serves as the director of the Albany Power Shootout at RPI, which is a summer scholastic tournament featuring the Albany Power Lacrosse Club and various club teams from throughout the northeast. 

Leveille is also the founder and organizer of the Lake Placid Summit Lacrosse Tournament. Started in 1990, the event has grown to more than 100 teams, competing in 12 men’s, women’s, boys and girls divisions. He also served as the co-founder and organizer of the Albany Capitals Lacrosse Club, Inc., from 1990-01. 

The Albany Area Lacrosse Man of the Year in 1993 and 1998, Leveille played collegiate lacrosse at Niagara University. He went on to play for numerous club teams, including the Scarsdale Lacrosse Club, the Cloud Splitter Lacrosse Club and the Old Glory Grand Masters, which played in the World Championships in 1998. 

Leveille has been a member of the U.S. Lacrosse, Inc., since 1985 and currently serves on the Chapters Advisory Council. He also serves as the president of Adirondack Lacrosse Promotions, Inc., and is a two-time past president of the Adirondack Chapter for U.S. Lacrosse, Inc. 

Inducted into the Adirondack Chapter U.S. Lacrosse, Inc., Hall of Fame in 2001, Leveille’s two sons are also accomplished lacrosse players. Kevin was a three-time All-American at the University of Massachusetts and is a four-time Major League Lacrosse All-Star. He played for the Boston Cannons and is currently with the Chicago Machine. 

Mike, George Leveille’s youngest son, was a four-time All-American at Syracuse University, where he led the Orange to the 2008 NCAA Championship, earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player honor. He was also named the 2008 Tawaaraton Trophy winner, awarded to the “Most Outstanding” collegiate lacrosse player in the United States and currently plays alongside his brother for Chicago of the MLL.
