Anthony Ortolano was named the athletic trainer at Rensselaer in 1985 after the retirement of Tom Sheehan, Jr. In his time at Rensselaer, Ortolano has brought new programs and state-of-the-art equipment to improve the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries.
Prior to arriving at Rensselaer, Ortolano served as athletic trainer at Union College, from 1977-78, and as professor and athletic trainer at Plattsburgh State, from 1979-85. A member of the New York State Eastern Regional and National Athletic Trainers’ Associations, in 1982, he was awarded the prestigious Tom Sheehan Award, presented annually to the athletic trainer from New York who has done most for the advancement of athletic training.
Ortolano earned a bachelor’s degree from Norwich in 1976 and subsequently received a master’s degree from Central Connecticut State in 1977. He and his wife, Megan, and their four children, Cater, Becky, Trevor and Molly, live in Hoags Corners.
