Melanie Greene joined the Engineers' women's ice hockey staff in November 2012.

Greene came to Rensselaer from Hamilton College, where she spent the 2011-12 season working with all aspects of the Continentals women's hockey program. She was involved with on-ice teaching and player development, game-planning, off-ice workouts and activities and recruiting.

She has also worked numerous camps and clinics, including as an evaluator at a New York State Amateur Hockey Association (NYSAHA) clinic, where she aided 16- and 17-year olds, as well as at a USA Hockey U14 Select Camp. Greene also spent time as a coach with Canadian Hockey Enterprise in Lake Placid, where she taught 12- to 18-year old girls.

Following graduation from Queensbury High School, Greene attended the University of Vermont, where she played defense for the Catamounts. A physical education major with a concentration in exercise and movement science, she was a three-time Hockey East All-Academic honoree.

Greene went on from college to play a year of professional hockey in Germany.
