The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's ice hockey team named Rebecca Taylor assistant coach in September 2024.

Taylor arrives in Troy after spending 2023-24 as an assistant coach at Curry College. She was part of an impressive turnaround in her one season with the Colonels women's hockey program, as Curry improved from 34 goals scored in 2022-23 to 61 goals netted this past winter. 

"We're excited to welcome Rebecca Taylor to our program," said RPI Head Coach Bryan Vines at the time of her appointment. "Rebecca's impressive leadership as a two-sport captain at Nichols College and her recent coaching success at Curry College, where she played a pivotal role in elevating their program, speaks volumes about her leadership ability. We are excited to have her join our team and look forward to the fresh perspective and energy she will bring to our staff and student-athletes."

Before joining the staff at Curry, Taylor wrapped her playing collegiate playing career at Nichols College. She was a three-year captain for the Bison, playing in 89 games on the blue line and compiling four goals and seven assists for 11 points. She also competed on the Nichols women's lacrosse team.

For her efforts at Nichols, Taylor received the Major Charles T. Hopkins Award for Study, Sports, and Spirit in 2023. The award is presented to a senior student-athlete who had a great success both in the classroom and in the arena of competition. Taylor had a cumulative grade point average among the top in her class while also garnering recognition for outstanding athletic contributions to women's ice hockey and women's lacrosse. She also served as a peer tutor, and worked for Skyhawks Sports Academy.

The Ridgefield, Conn. native graduated from Nichols with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice in 2022, before completing her master's degree in counterterrorism in 2023.
