The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's hockey team added Ryan Gayso to its staff as the Director of Hockey Operations in December of 2023.

"We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Ryan to the RPI family,” said Vines. “He brings extensive experience in operations and managing a first-class program for our student-athletes. Ryan’s professionalism, attention to detail, and passion for RPI and our community make him a perfect addition to our staff.”

Gayso joined the Engineers from Miami University (OH), where he served in the same role with the women’s hockey team in Oxford. He oversaw and scheduled all hockey activities at the Goggin Ice Center, and the planning and organization of all youth hockey programs. He also helped the organization of Miami's Summer Hockey School.

Gayso's coaching journey includes a Volunteer Assistant Coach position for his alma mater’s women’s program, Robert Morris University. His responsibilities ranged from preparing scouting reports using XOS video software to on-ice skill development for goalies, defensemen, and forwards.

Other previous roles Gayso has been the Director of Goaltending and Player Development Coach at the Center of Excellence, Assistant Coach and Director of Hockey Operations for the Point Mallard Ducks, and Assistant Coach and Hockey Director for the Evansville Thunderbolts.

Some of Gayso’s coaching highlights include serving as the Intern Coach at the 2023 IJSA Hockey Girls National 15 Player Development Camp, achieving CF-IA Champions in 2021, and securing a NCAA Tournament berth in the same year. Gayso also had a role as the Goaltending Coach at the 2018 IJSA Hockey Southeast District Select 14 Camp. In addition, he holds USA Hockey Level 4 Certified Coach and Safe Sport Certified status.

On the playing front, Gayso appeared as the goaltender for the nationally ranked Robert Morris University NCAA and ACHA hockey team from 2011 to 2015, earning various accolades, including the 2014-2015 CHMIA 1st Team All-Conference and an ACHA National Tournament Berth.

Gayso is a graduate of Robert Morris University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts in 2015.
