Coach Matt McGarvey returns for his second season as Head Coach of the RPI Men’s Golf Program. In his first season in 2023-24, the Engineers finished in 4th place in the Liberty League, with Matt Buckley & Jacob Lindsay earning first team all-league honors.
A North Troy native, McGarvey has extensive experience in the sport as well as in the business world. He played collegiately at Division II Le Moyne College before returning to the Capital District and establishing himself as one of the top amateurs in the area. He won back-to-back Senior Men's Club Champion at Shaker Ridge Country Club – home course of the Engineers since 2022. Matt has also competed in four New York State Golf Association Mid-Amateur championships.
His responsibilities include overall daily operations, recruiting, alumnae relations and social media, while being active in multiple junior golf programs serving as a mentor and advisor to young players.
In addition to a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Le Moyne, he holds an MBA in Health Systems Administration from Union Graduate College.
Outside of golf, Matt is part of the strategic partnership team for healthcare & finance at the Center for Internet Security. CIS harnesses the power of the global IT community to safeguard public and private organizations against cyber threats.
