The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2008 was inducted on Sunday as six former student-athletes were honored.  Pictured are this year's inductees (left to right): Matthew Robbens '00 (Football), Thomas Terzulli '01 (Lacrosse), Julia Geer '00 (Swimming & Lacrosse), Stephanie Schnatz, who accepted the induction plaque on behalf of her father, Frederick G. C. Schnatz '41 (Football, Track & Field) and former Schnatz classmate Ernest Magyar '40 and Alex Dowlin '00 (Men's Basketball).

Also recognized were the 2007-08 Student-Athlete Award winners which included the Male and Female Freshmen Athletes of the Year, Chase Polacek (men's ice hockey) and Jen Bach (softball).  The Female and Male Athletes of the Year, Elizabeth Barker (women's basketball) and Ken Carroll (baseball) and the Male and Female Career Athletes in Brendan McGowan (football) and Marion Albert (women's track & field).  Additionally, Baseball head coach Karl Steffen was recognized as this year's Marvin Anderson Award recipient.

A forward from Phoenix, Ariz., Dowlin ranked second in school history in career points (1,412) and rebounds (772) upon graduation. He led the team in scoring for three years and in rebounding twice. In 95 career games, he averaged 14.9 points and 8.1 rebounds. He was also in the top three in assists, blocks and steals for three years. The league Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Dowlin went on to earn All-League honors in each of his next three seasons. He was also named All-Region and All-ECAC as a senior captain, when he averaged a career-best 18.1 points per game. Dowlin, who attended Ward Melville High School on Long Island, graduated with a management degree.

Geer, a native of Menands, N.Y., was a three-time captain in both swimming and lacrosse. In the pool, she set numerous school, league and state individual and relay records while swimming multiple strokes. The Shaker High School graduate was the league Rookie of the Year in 1997. Geer competed in the NCAA Championships twice, earning All-America honors once. In 54 lacrosse games, she scored 100 goals with 21 assists for 121 points as an attack. She was a four-time All-League selection, All-Region once and she participated in the North-South All-Star Game as a senior. Geer earned an undergraduate degree in management and a master's in psychology.

A quarterback, Robbens helped the Engineers to a 30-8 record, including two league championships and an ECAC Playoff game victory. As a senior captain, he led the 1999 team to the program's first-ever undefeated regular season (9-0) and it's first-ever NCAA Playoff berth. He was the league and ECAC Player of the Year that season. In 37 career games, Robbens, a Saratoga Springs, N.Y., native, threw for 5,275 yards and 50 touchdowns. He completed 49.6% of his passes (355 for 716) and was intercepted 33 times. A management major out of Saratoga High School, he was a two-time captain, All-League three times, All-ECAC once and the MVP of an ECAC Playoff game once. He graduated as the school record holder in seven categories, including touchdown passes in a season and career and yards passing in a game and a career.

Schnatz competed in football at numerous positions and track in the javelin, shot put and discus. He was also the Institute's heavyweight boxing champion as a freshman and the runner up as a sophomore. In football, the New York, N.Y., native was a two-year offensive guard and two-year blocking back who occasionally played quarterback, punter and placekicker. A captain as a senior in 1940, he had several professional contract offers upon completing his career. Schnatz was also a four-year letterwinner in track and he set the RPI javelin record as a sophomore with a throw of 173 feet, 6.75 inches. He was also active in extracurricular activities, including serving as President of Phalanx. Schnatz, who came to Rensselaer from Stuyvesant High School, graduated with a mechanical engineering degree. He will be inducted posthumously.

Ben and Tom Terzulli are identical twins from Freeport, N.Y., who played attack in lacrosse from 1998 to 2001. They led the team to a 37-18 overall record and a 19-2 league mark in their tenure. RPI won three league championships and competed in the post-season four times, including the program's first two NCAA Tournament appearances. The 2001 team reached the National Quarterfinals, losing in the last minute of regulation.

In 55 career games, Ben scored 138 goals with 136 assists for 274 points. His most productive season came when he was a junior, scoring 46 goals and 77 points in 13 games. He was an All-League First Team selection all four years and a National All-America three times. Following his senior season, he played in the North-South All-Star game and was one of four Division III players selected to participate in the Major Lacrosse League Combine/All-Star Game. Ben – and Tom – graduated with a degree in industrial and management engineering.

Tom Terzulli notched 357 points, including 129 goals and 228 assists, in 55 career games. The league's leading scorer every season, he led the nation in assists per game (5.38) and points per game (7.31) in 2000 after scoring 95 points (70 assists) in 13 games. The previous season he was second in Division III in assists per game (5.07) and third in points per game (7.14) after tallying 100 points (71 assists) in 14 games. He was the league's Player of the Year four times, a National All-America three times and a National Academic All-America once. He also played in the North-South All-Star Game following his senior campaign.
