TROY, N.Y. - The ECAC has announced its year-end award winners and four members of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) baseball team – all juniors – were honored, including two who won major awards. Catcher
Patrick Reardon was named the Player of the Year and
Andrew Mondo was selected as Pitcher of the Year.
Camden Mamigonian, an outfielder, and
Scott Robinson, a utility player, joined them as All-Stars.
A native of Troy, N.Y., Reardon played all 50 games, including 49 as a starter, with a .409 batting average on a school record 79 hits in 193 at bats. He had 22 doubles, a triple and 10 home runs for 133 total bases. He boasted a slugging percentage of .689 and an on-base percentage of .491. The LaSalle Institute graduate scored a school record 61 runs with 54 RBI.
Reardon led the Liberty League in nine offensive categories, including average, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, total bases, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and walks (29). He was second in RBI and third in at bats.
In addition to being named the ECAC Player of the Year and All-ECAC, Reardon also garnered Liberty League Player of the Year, All-Liberty League First Team, Liberty League All-Tournament Team, All-Region First Team and National All-America Second Team by both the ABCA and D3Baseball.com.
Mondo, a righthander from Clifton Park, N.Y., set the school record for wins, going 11-3 with a 3.03 earned run average in 16 appearances, including 15 starts. He had two complete games, including a shutout. In 92.0 innings of work, he allowed 95 hits and 55 runs (31 earned) with 93 strikeouts and 22 walks. The opposition hit .255 against him.
A graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Mondo led the Liberty League in wins, strikeouts and innings pitched, ranked third in ERA and was fourth in opposition batting average. He was the Liberty League Pitcher of the Year, a unanimous All-Liberty League First Team selection, All-Region First Team and ABCA National All-America Second Team. Academically, he was Liberty League All-Academic, All-District I First Team and an ESPN the Magazine National Academic All-America Third Team.
A native of Dover, N.H., Mamigonian batted .361 (70 for 194) with 50 runs and a school-record 60 RBI in 49 games. He had 19 doubles and nine home runs for 116 total bases and a .598 slugging percentage. Mamigonian was named All-Liberty League Second Team, to the Liberty League All-Tournament Team, All-Region First Team, Liberty League All-Academic, Academic All-District First Team and National Academic All-America Second Team.
Robinson, who is from Schenectady, N.Y., was All-Liberty League First Team as a designated hitter. In 44 games, he hit .341 with 46 hits in 135 at bats. He had nine doubles and a Liberty League-best 10 home runs with 46 RBI and 30 runs scored. Also a second baseman, he slugged at a .630 clip with a .433 on base percentage.
