TROY, N.Y. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced its 2010 Division III Upstate Baseball All-Stars and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete
Patrick Reardon has been selected to the First Team.
A senior catcher and captain from Troy, N.Y., Reardon started all 40 games this season, compiling a team-best .385 batting average (52 for 135). He led the team with 22 extra-base hits, including a team-high 14 doubles, a triple and a club-best seven home runs. Reardon boasted a slugging percentage of .659 and an on-base percentage of .517. The LaSalle Institute graduate also scored 52 runs, with 32 runs batted in and nine stolen bases.
Reardon led the Liberty League in home runs, doubles, walks and slugging percentage. Nationally he ranks seventh in walks (37) and 15th in walks per game (0.93). A Liberty League Performer of the Week selection this season, Reardon earned All-League recognition in each of his four seasons, including three straight First Team honors.
For his career, Reardon hit .386 (227 for 588) with 59 doubles – two shy of the school record – three triples and 22 home runs. He scored 171 runs, with 155 runs batted in and 20 stolen bases in 27 attempts. Amassing a .609 lifetime slugging percentage, he also had a .484 on-base percentage, walking 105 times compared to 74 strikeouts.
As a junior, Reardon batted .409 (79 for 193) with 22 doubles, a triple and team-high 10 home runs. He scored 61 runs and drove in 54. He made the Liberty League All-Tournament Team, the ABCA/Rawlings Division III All-Regional First Team, D3Baseball.com All-America Second Team and was both the ECAC Division III Upstate and NCBWA New York Region Player of the Year.
In 2008, he hit .389 (65 for 167) with 18 doubles, a triple and four home runs, earning All-New York Region First Team honors. In his freshman campaign, Reardon batted .333 (31 for 93) with five doubles and a home run, making the All-Liberty League Second Team.
The baseball team concluded its season with a 24-16 overall record, including a 13-11 mark in Liberty League play.
