TROY, N.Y. – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athlete Dan Duval is enjoying a solid summer season for the North Shore Navigators of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL). Entering action as of August 2, Duval has gone 1-2 in 19 games, with a 2.38 earned run average for the second place Navigators.

North Shore is currently ranked 15th nationally among all collegiate summer baseball leagues with Duval being a key component to the team's success. His 19 appearances rank him third in the league, while his 2.38 ERA has him 15th among the league's pitchers. Opponents are hitting just .211 against him, which is good for 10th in the league.

Being primarily used in a setup role and as a spot starter, Duval has also struck out 27 batters and has allowed just 11 runs (9 earned) on 28 hits through 34 innings pitched. His team began its quest for the Fay Vincent Sr. Cup – given to the league champions – on August 2.

The New England Collegiate Baseball League is a summer wood bat development league for professional baseball. It gives college players who have not yet signed a pro contract the opportunity to develop their skills, gain experience with wood bats, and be evaluated by scouts. There are 12 teams in the league, including the Navigators, Lowell All-Americans, Holyoke Sox and Newport Gulls.

Duval, who went 4-3 in during sophomore campaign in 2010, had a 3.18 earned run average in 11 appearances. Recording 34 strikeouts in 51.0 innings, he surrendered just 18 walks and was a Liberty League Pitcher of the Week selection.
