TROY, N.Y. -
Grace Tilton, a student-athlete on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) women's cross country team, has garnered recognition from both the Liberty League and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) based on her performance at the NCAA Atlantic Regional on Saturday.
A native of Concord, N.H., Tilton won the 269-runner Regional Meet on Saturday when she broke her own course record with a time of 21:07.0. She bested the 269-runner field to win the individual championship (21:07.0), breaking the 6-kilometer course record time she previously set last month during the Geneseo Invitational (Oct. 5) by over 40 seconds. By finishing first she qualified for the NCAA Championship Meet on Saturday.
For her effort, she was named the USTFCCCA Women's Atlantic Regional Athlete of the Year, chosen as the league's Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week for the fourth time this season and an All-Region selection by the USTFCCCA. The top 35 individual finishers at one of the eight regional sites across the country.
The NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships will be contested November 23 in Hanover, Ind., hosted by Hanover at the L.S. Ayres Complex. The meet will be broadcast live online on
