TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) senior defensive end Arthur Kuyan has been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week. He is one of only four defensive linemen to be recognized this week.

Kuyan (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island Technical) had a season-high seven tackles, including three unassisted stops, 3.5 for lost yards (33), and two sacks with 13 yards lost in RPI's 23-8 win over Castleton on Saturday. He helped the defense hold the Spartans to a school record minus-42 yards rushing and only 271 yards of total offense all game, 118 of which came on the visitors' final two drives.

Through three games this season, Kuyan has 13 total tackles, four of which are unassisted. He had three stops in a 20-7 win over Norwich and three more in a 24-21 win at Alfred. He has helped the Engineers hold the opposition to 12.0 points and 59.3 rushing yards per game. Overall opponents average 291.0 yards of total offense per contest. 

Rensselaer, which is 3-0, starts play in the Liberty League on Saturday at WPI in the Transit Trophy Game. Kickoff is 1pm and the game can be heard live on WRPI, 91.5 FM, and www.wrpi.org.
