Two From Women's Soccer Named Academic All-District

Sara Harper and Cori Winslow honored by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)

TROY, N.Y. - Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) student-athletes Sara Harper and Cori Winslow has been selected to the 2016 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Women's Soccer Academic All-District™ 3 Division III Team. Both honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, from which first-, second- and third team National Academic All-America honorees will be selected.  

A junior midfielder, Harper (Farmington, UT / Viewmont) has played in all 17 games, recording two shots, including one on goal. She averages 24.8 minutes per match and filled a number of roles in different positions on the field for an Engineers team that has posted a 13-3-1 overall record, including a 5-2-0 mark in the Liberty League. RPI has been ranked as high as 22nd in the NSCAA poll.

Academically, Harper is a biomedical and mechanical engineering dual major with a 3.94 cumulative grade point average. The two-time all-district honoree has been heavily involved in undergraduate research, working in Linhardt Labs: Laboratory of Biocatalysis & Bioprocessing on campus. Her responsibilities include maintaining mammalian cell cultures for use in investigating the biomedical applications for sophorolipids while also serving as an assistant to the graduate researcher. Harper has also worked in the Laboratory for Tissue Engineering and Morphogenesis Research, assisting post-doctoral students and graduate researchers in their lab studies.

A senior forward, Winslow (Ballston Spa, NY / Ballston Spa) is second in the team with 11 points on four goals and three assists. She has 36 shot attempts, including 18 on goal. Averaging 68.8 minutes per match, she has one game-winning goal to her credit. A Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week, she has been an All-Liberty League Second Team selection and a three-time All-Academic Team honoree.

Winslow carries a 3.46 cumulative grade point average as a design, inovation & society and mechanical engineering major. A six-time Dean's List selection, she has interned with the NYSERDA, working on advanced buildings as well as with Vital Vio in production design. Also working with Design for American, she is a member of the RPI Society of Environmental Professionals.

The Engineers are in action on Friday night, when they travel to Skidmore College for their final regular season game of the season (7pm).
