SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Junior Lincoln Field scored on a rebound 6:47 into overtime to give the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) men's soccer team a 1-0 win over Union College in a Liberty League match. Rensselaer improves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the league while the Dutchmen fall to 5-2-1 and 1-1.

RPI earned the victory when Field (Contoocook, NH/Hopkinton), a midfielder, found the rebound of a Kevin Swift (Clifton Park, NY/Shenedehowa) shot and scored his third goal of the season.

Sophomore Alex Penny (Northport, NY/Northport) posted his second consecutive shutout by making three saves – all in the second half.  RPI defeated Skidmore, 1-0, on Friday night.  Penny's counterpart, Rob Kramer, stopped eight shots, including four in the first half, three in the second and one in the extra session.

Rensselaer outshot the Dutchmen, 12-6, and registered two more corner kicks, 5-3.

The Red Hawks are back in action on Wednesday night when they host SUNY Cobleskill in a non-league game (7pm). Union returns to the field on Friday at Hobart for a Liberty League contest (4pm).
